The Language Commons at Hakuoh Daigyoji Campus

Hello everyone! We are delighted to welcome you to the Language Commons (LC)! We hope that you will make use of the facilities we have here and take advantage of the opportunities to make new friends and learn from both your peers and teachers! We strongly believe that the LC is a place that belongs to everyone at Hakuoh, and we hope that some of you will work with us to make it as good as it possibly can be. We want to build a community where everyone can come and learn together in a fun and relaxing environment.
皆さん、こんにちは。皆さんをランゲージコモンズ（LC）にお迎えできることを嬉しく思います。私たちは、皆さんがここの設備を利用し、新しい友達を作り、仲間や先生から学ぶ機会を活用してくれることを願っています。私たちは、LCが白鴎の皆さんのものであると強く信じています。そして、皆さんの中には、私たちと一緒にLCをより良いものにしてくれる人がいることを願っています。私たちは、みんなが楽しくリラックスした環境で一緒に学ぶことができるコミュニティを作りたいと思っています。

The Language Commons is aimed at providing a safe and supportive community outside of the classroom where students can learn to take control of their own development as language learners and teachers. We wish to provide learners with opportunities to utilize both physical and social resources so that they may develop independently and interdependently as self-directed learners throughout their entire lives. Furthermore, in line with a holistic educational perspective, we aim to foster mental and emotional wellbeing by facilitating a sense of belonging and mutual support among Hakuoh students.

Meet Elsie!

From 2021, we have a new addition to the Language Commons – our own mascot, Elsie (pronounced elsiː)! Elsie was created by David Baldridge, an American artist living in Gunma. Elsie loves learning and making friends, so please come and join us at the LC!

2021年から、ランゲージコモンズに新しい仲間が加わりました！私たちのマスコットです。エルシーは、群馬県在住のアメリカ人アーティスト、デビッド・バルドリッジ氏によって制作されました。エルシーのように勉強や友達作りが好きな方は、ぜひLCに来てくださいね。
